Sky High at Sydney Tower

Sydney Tower, Source: Aussiegall @ Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/14516334@N00/New York has the Empire State Building, and New South Wales’ capital has the Sydney Tower. Yesterday I told you about the tower’s restaurant, but that’s not the only way to enjoy Sydney Tower’s great views.

If you’re short on cash, or time, you can still take in this amazing 360-view from the Sydney Tower’s Observation Deck.

Since it opened in 1981, Sydney Tower has offered locals and tourists the best views of the city and beyond. It may hundreds of metres above the city, but don’t worry. The tower is considered one of the safest buildings in the world, designed to withstand earthquakes and extreme winds.

The lifts will whisk you to the observation deck in around 40 seconds. But if you’re up for a challenge, why not take the stairs? There’s 1504 of them in all!

Your ticket to the top also includes a pass to OzTrek, a fun and educational virtual reality ride. The 180-degree cinema screens will teach you all about Australia’s history and geography, and with the special motion seating you’ll feel like part of the action.

Sydney Tower is open every day except Christmas. It opens at 9 am and closes at 10:30 pm Sunday to Friday and at 11:30 pm on Saturdays. Passes to Sydney Tower and OzTrek cost $24.50 for adults, $18.50 for students, $17 for seniors, and $14.50 for children to 15 years. Discounted family passes start from $43. Children under four are free. However, if you book online you can save 10% on the regular admission price.

I love going up in towers and buildings to get a great view of the city. This one looks very cool.

Oh I’m the same way. If I visit a city with a tall building I just have to climb it. It’s the best way to get some perspective on your surroundings I think. Thanks for stopping by!
