Sydney Revs Up for Motorcycle Show
Before I became a travel blogger, I was a writer at a motorcycle newspaper. It was a really odd fit as I had never been on a
bike and knew nothing about them, but somehow I managed to stumble my way through.
One of the highlights of my year was the Sydney Motorcycle Show. Seeing that it’s on again this weekend is making me a little nostalgic. Whether you know anything about bikes are not, this is a really great day out.
For bike enthusiasts, there are displays of the latest motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, and cool gadgets from local and international manufacturers. Honda Australia Rider Training will also demonstrate safe riding techniques for two-wheelers and ATVs.
If you like the classics, make sure you go on Sunday to see the Japanese Motorcycle Club’s Vintage Show and Shine. The bikes on show date from the 50s to the 90s, and you can talk with the owners for some technical advice on your own machine.
But why drool all over the bikes, when you can ride them! Visitors can register for Harley Davidson and Buell test rides all weekend.
If your partner has dragged you along, I suggest leaving them and checking out some of the cool shows. The Yamaha Action Arena will showcase some hair-raising freestyle motocross demos. These guys (and some girls!) do things with a bike you really shouldn’t try at home! Street stunt bike performer Matt Mingay will also show off for the crowd.
The Sydney Motorcycle Show is open from Friday November 2 to Sunday November 4 at Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. It opens at 9 am each day and closes at 8 pm on Friday and Saturday and 6 pm on Sunday.
Tickets are available at the door. Adults cost $16, and seniors and children are $12. Kids under five are free. Discounted family passes are also available for $39.
