Best Budget Meals at Ryde City Bowling Club

Best Budget Meals at Ryde City Bowling Club

Last night my parents and I headed out west to catch Santana at ACER Arena. We weren’t really sure where we should head for dinner, so we decided to turn off at Ryde and see what took our fancy. My parents are big fans of clubs, so when we spied Ryde City Bowling Club I knew that would be our destination.
The basic pale blue exterior doesn’t promise much, but what’s inside is perhaps one of the best value meals in town. The menu is fairly basic, offering standard pub fare like battered fish, lamb cutlets, and an old fashioned mixed …read more

Eveleigh Park Precinct Celebrations

In 2005 the local community provided feedback for upgrades to three parks in the Eveleigh precinct. On Saturday the revamped Hugo Street Reserve, Yellowmundee Park, and Pemulway Park will be unveiled to the public.
So what’s changed? Well, local artists Bronwyn Bancroft and Dale Jones have created a stunning mural on the fence of Hugo Street Reserve. New native and street trees were planted, and there’s more grass for kids to play on. While Mum and Dad are watching the children they can sit down on the park’s new seats. Dogs will be happy too with the new low fenced area, …read more

Sydney is Coffee Central

Sydney is Coffee Central

It’s Wednesday, and we’re all dragging our feet anxiously awaiting the weekend. Nothing gets you over a midweek slump like coffee. But coffee isn’t just coffee anymore, is it? It’s a cappuccino, or a chai latte, or an affogato or macchiato. And according to The Sunday Telegraph, what you drink is often down to where you live.
In the eastern and northern suburbs, coffee drinkers are health conscious. They love a low-fat skinny or coffee with soy milk.
In the west and south they don’t care too much for their waistline, ordering bigger coffees with full cream milk. And they don’t stop …read more

Something for Everyone at Springfield’s

Something for Everyone at Springfield’s

Late last year a revolutionary new player entered the Sydney entertainment scene. Springfield’s Restaurant and Bar brings together fine dining and exemplary alcohol in a unique environment. Visitors can enjoy upmarket a la carte meals, a few drinks, or combine the two.
“Unlike North America, much of Europe and even Melbourne, Sydney has a very lineal nightlife, we have a large choice of restaurants, a large choice of bars and pubs, but few places that merge the two successfully,” explained Springfield’s’ designer Chris Jolliffe.
“Springfield’s will be an oasis in an edgy part of town, a place that doesn’t shy away from …read more

Mad about Mexican

Mad about Mexican

Mexican food is hot hot hot in Sydney this summer. No, I’m not talking lashings of sour cream and dodgy beans. I’m talking about real Mexican food. A couple of months ago I told you about about Mad Mex Fresh Mexican Grill, but this is just the tip of the iceberg.
“The food a lot of people were raised on here as Mexican was really pretty poor,” Bill Komoroski of Tomatillo told The Sunday Telegraph recently. “It was Taco Bell burritos that just didn’t taste good.
“But there was an opportunity in the market for more authentic tastes and that’s what you …read more
