Binturongs Come Out to Play

Binturongs Come Out to Play

Sydneysiders got their first glimpse of Taronga Zoo’s new binturong cubs this weekend. Impi and Baru were born on Boxing Day, but they’ve only just ventured out of their nesting box.
And they’re already making mischief in the zoo’s new Wild Asia exhibit.
“The twins are doing exceptionally well and proving to be double trouble for their mother Pepper,” exotic mammals keeper Lisa Abra told The Sunday Telegraph.
These little guys will grow up fast so make sure you see them as soon as you can!

Barbeque Brazilian Style at Braza

Barbeque Brazilian Style at Braza

Aussies love a barbie, but how many of you have ever tasted a barbeque prepared South American style? Braza Grill gives you the chance to try a Brazilian twist on this Australian tradition.
It’s the brainchild of Andre Felicio, a Brazilian expat inspired to share his traditional cuisine with Sydneysiders.
The all-you-can eat set up allows you to taste your fill of these unique foods. All-you-can eat joints have gotten a bad rep in recent times, but this is something different. Andre prepares yummy meat skewers on the two metre long barbeque pit in front of his guests, and they’re no sooner …read more

Horton and Friends Visit Sydney

Horton and Friends Visit Sydney

Dr Seuss is hot stuff again thanks to the recent release of Horton Hears a Who. And now a cool Sydney art exhibit is showing a new side of the good doctor.
The Art of Dr Seuss originally toured Australia in 2004, but it’s back again with the addition of 15 newly released drawings and never seen before sculptures. They’re on show alongside limited edition prints from his books and personal artworks.
“He painted and sculpted all his life, privately and quietly for himself,” Trevor Victor Harvey, the Australian agent for Dr Seuss art, told The Sunday Telegraph recently.
“He was a master …read more

French Fare at Chez Pascal

French Fare at Chez Pascal

Chez Pascal may have recently moved from its regular Ramsgate digs, but the venue is the only thing that’s changed. It’s business as usual at this traditional French restaurant, with chef and owner Philippe Lebreaux continuing to produce outstanding cuisine with a smile.
As the weather turns cooler this kind of comfort food is all the more appealing. Rabbit casserole in a French mustard sauce, beef cheeks braised in red wine, and the obligatory plate of escargot are all winners.
The most surprising part of the Chez Pascal experience is the price. Few meals are priced more than $28, and you can …read more

Five Chefs for a Good Cause

Five Chefs for a Good Cause

This event’s still some time away, but foodies will want to get a jump on it. I’m talking about the Five Chefs Dinner, an exciting national event raising money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
It’s a night where some of the hottest chefs put their professional rivalries aside to help out sick kids, and cook up some amazing food. At the Sydney event you’ll taste delicacies from Justic North of Becasse, Luke Mangan of Glass, Peter Evans of Hugo’s, Carl Middleton of the Four Seasons Hotel, and special guest Guy Grossi from Melbourne’s Grossi Florentino.
“Happiness in my heart feels good,” Guy …read more

Barbeques for Sydney Neighbourhoods

Barbeques for Sydney Neighbourhoods

I have to admit, I’m a massive fan of the soapie Neighbours. But how many of us really live in a neighbourhood like Ramsey Street? For that matter, how many of us know any of our neighbours at all?
Sydney’s south is set to change all that with a series of community barbeques. There’s something for the whole family, with live music and kids activities planned for all sites. It’s also a great opportunity to meet your local council safety officers and police, the unsung heroes of our local area. They’ll be on hand to offer safety advice to help you …read more

The Ultimate Sailing Experience

The Ultimate Sailing Experience

Have we seen the last of the rain clouds? They certainly dampened my spirits this long weekend, but I’m biting my tongue because I know we need the rain.
Now that it looks like it’s clearing though, I’m starting to think of ways to enjoy this sunny weather. One particularly appealing option is an Ultimate Sailing course. It’s going to require three weekends of fine weather, but I’m an optimist.
Sailing’s one of those sports that tends to intimidate people, but is really terribly easy. It doesn’t take long to learn the basics, leaving you plenty of time to just soak in …read more
