Stunning Sydney Views on a Harbourside Walk

Macquarie Lighthouse

Sydney Harbour is one of the most beautiful features of the city, but most of us only tend to see it when we’re amid the hustle and bustle. Why not slow things down and enjoy this spectacular spot from a different perspective, with the Federation Cliff Walk? This 5 km track, which stretches from Dover Heights to Watsons Bay, offers stunning sea views with every step.

Start your journey at Raleigh Reserve and wander through the parklands near the edge of the sandstone cliffs. Enjoy the postcard perfect views of the Pacific Ocean as you wander to Watsons Bay.

Along the way make sure you stop to admire Australia’s first lighthouse, Macquarie Lighthouse. You’ll also see dramatic views at The Gap, where massive waves explode against the cliffs.

The 5 km walk is lengthy, but thankfully there are cafes and shady spots for relaxing at the finish line. Buses travel back to Dover Heights, and ferries go to the city, so if you’re too tired to make the journey back you can always use the public transport.

Location: From Dover Heights to Watsons Bay
Address: Leave from Raleigh Reserve, Raleigh Street, Dover Heights and walk to Robertson Park, Marine Parade, Watsons Bay
Public transport: Catch a #323, #380, #382, or #L82 bus from the city to Dover Heights
Parking: Limited street parking is available
Cost: Free

Having spent almost 7 years in Australia (although mostly in Victoria), I am always impressed with the Australian sceneries.. this one included.

Great view. I bet brunch seaside is fantastic, even of the food isn’t.

Oh rest assured Jon, there are some lovely cafes around there. I’m glad I’m inspiring everyone to head to my side of the world!
