The Australian Olympic team did us proud in Beijing. Now you can show your appreciation to these elite athletes by welcoming them home!

Next Monday Sydney will host the first Australian Olympic Team Homecoming Parade, and everyone is invited to join in. See gold medal stars Stephanie Rice, Leisel Jones, Libby Trickett, Steve Hooker, Matthew Mitcham, and plenty more local heroes.

The parade will travel from Circular Quay up George Street before ending at the Town Hall. Here the Lord Mayor of Sydney and New South Wales Premier Nathan Rees will officially welcome our Olympians home.

Sydney’s Chinese community will also participate to thank Beijing for hosting the games.

We were all riveted to the Olympic Games, so I’m sure this is going to be massive Make sure you arrive early to get the best view of the athletes as they pass!

Date: Monday 15 September
Time: Starts at noon
Location: Starts at Circular Quay, travels down George Steet, and ends at Town Hall
Public transport: Catch a train to Circular Quay or Town Hall station
Parking: The RTA and NSW Police will close roads for the parade between 9 am and 3 pm. Spectators are recommended to use public transport.
