Environmentally Friendly Earth Festival

Centennial Park comes alive with eco-friendly vibes this Saturday with the inaugural Earth Festival. Earth Festival

This exciting event has something for everybody, with a giant Orb 360 degree cinema, the biggest drum circle in the Southern Hemisphere, a dazzling lattern parade, chilled out Chai tent grooves, thrilling trapeze classes, and Australia’s biggest group mediation!

Some of Australia’s best musicians including Abby Dobson, The Kahn Brothers, Kerrianne Cox, Steve Kilbey, and Declan Kelly will be on hand to entertain the crowds. There’ll also be buskers in the Barefoot Bar, West African dancers, and Jimme drummers.

“Earth Festival 2008 brings people together in appreciation and love of the natural environment and the beautiful place in which we live. It’s about celebrating planet earth, connecting with ourselves and our surroundings through music and the arts, while having fun in the process,” explained festival director, Paul von Bergen.

“When we appreciate the magnificence of the natural environment, we make a greater effort to look after it.”

Festival organisers are working to have as many climate-friendly products and practices as possible. A percentage of profits on the day will also go to the Australian Marine Conservation Society.
