Sweet Treats at Café Chocolat
Sydney has a few chocolate cafés now, but I’m a girl so word of new additions is always well received. The latest one to open its doors is Adriano Zumbo’s Café Chocolat.
If the name sounds familiar you might be a regular at Adriano’s Balmain bakery, which is conveniently located just a few doors down. So we know he’s good with the sweet stuff, but can he make good chocolate? Yes he can!
The café features a small courtyard, indoor communal table, and a luxuriously cushioned chill-out lounge for relaxing with your gal pals. You can choose from around 30 hand-made chocolates on the delicious menu which dishes up both sweet and savoury treats.
Names like “rotten egg” and “camel toe” are a little, well, surprising, but don’t let that put you off. Adriano’s bold blends of fruit flavours, balsamic, saffron, and chilli are used to create something vastly different from any chocolates you’ve tasted before.
The desserts are lavish, with more of those intriguing names. How about The Younger Years, a hot chocolate fondant with peanut butter icecream and a raspberry injection? Or the Mum and Me, a messy dish with chocolate foam, sorbet, and choc-spaghetti bolognaise?
If I’ve started your tummy rumbling perhaps a trip to Café Chocolat is in order!
