Sydney Photo Friday: Christmas Tree at The Galleries

Sydney Photo Friday: Christmas Tree at The Galleries

Is it really less than a week until Christmas? Sure enough, there’s just six sleeps to go! So for this edition of Sydney Photo Friday, I figured I’d show you one of my favourite Christmas trees in the city. There are so many beautiful ones around Sydney, but I love this one inside The Galleries Victoria. Just look at those big gold bows, beautiful crystal ornaments, and that dazzling star on top! It really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

Sydney Photo Friday: Rethinking Seagulls

Sydney Photo Friday: Rethinking Seagulls

Seagulls are the scourge of the Sydney summer, right up there with blowflies and jellyfish. They’re noisy and demanding, especially if you’re eating hot chips. But then I see a photo like this one, and I think maybe seagulls aren’t that bad after all. Sure, when they’re photographed you can’t hear them squawking. But doesn’t this bird look so serene? Maybe I’ll give seagulls a chance this year after all.

Sydney Photo Friday: Sydney Opera House

Sydney Photo Friday: Sydney Opera House

To commemorate the death this week of Danish architect Jorn Utzon I thought I’d take another look at one of his finest works, the Sydney Opera House. This striking building is one of Sydney’s most recognizable landmarks, a thriving cultural hub and a true marvel of modern architecture. I never tire of looking at it!

Sydney Photo Friday: Ghosts on the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Sydney Photo Friday: Ghosts on the Sydney Harbour Bridge

I have crossed the Sydney Harbour Bridge countless times, and seen even more photographs of this local icon. Yet I’ve never seen it like this. I’m not image savvy enough to even guess how the photographer achieved this beautiful shot, but I love it. The people crossing the bridge look like ghosts. It’s spooky and stunning all at the same time!

Sydney Photo Friday: Anzac Bridge

Sydney Photo Friday: Anzac Bridge

Millions of us drive across Anzac Bridge every day, but we rarely get to see it from this amazing angle. More than just the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s poor cousin, Anzac Bridge is a truly striking marvel of modern architecture. The lights against the dappled night sky just add to the appeal of this gorgeous photo.

Sydney Photo Friday: Surfer Dazzles at Dee Why

Sydney Photo Friday: Surfer Dazzles at Dee Why

I seem to have a pattern of posting beach pictures whenever the mercury rises. Looking longingly at images of surfers cutting through the waves doesn’t necessarily make me any cooler, but I can’t seem to help myself. This beauty was taken at Dee Why.

Sydney Photo Friday: Blue Skies in Sydney Skyscrapers

Sydney Photo Friday: Blue Skies in Sydney Skyscrapers

What an amazing photo this is! I love the skyscrapers in Wynyard, but I’ve never seen them captured so vividly with the clouds and blue skies of Sydney reflected in their glass panels. Photos like this make me glad we’ve left winter far behind! Bring on more of these clear blue days!

Sydney Photo Friday: Whitewater at Bondi

Sydney Photo Friday: Whitewater at Bondi

As the mercury soared today I figured I’d do my best to cool you down. This photo might just do it! I love this shot of the whitewater breaking over the pool at Bondi Beach.

Sydney Photo Friday: Black and White Sydney By Night

Sydney Photo Friday: Black and White Sydney By Night

I love the way that black and white photographs can bring out a place’s natural beauty. We’ve all seen the lights of the city, but when you strip the night of all it’s color what you’re left with is this striking shot.

Sydney Photo Friday: Man Meets Nature

Sydney Photo Friday: Man Meets Nature

I love this photo because it truly captures that beautiful duality of Sydney. On one hand we’ve got a natural paradise, with beautiful parklands and lush green trees. Then there is the thriving hustle and bustle of the city, with tall skyscrapers reaching to the sky. I love them both, and sometimes it’s just nice to sit and take them all in!
