Computerised Pool System a Real Lifesaver
Blacktown Leisure Centre just got a lot safer with the installation of a new computerised lifesaver.
The system uses a series of cameras which are linked underwater and above the surface. Special software analyses the activity of all swimmers. It sounds an alarm when it detects a swimmer is drowning, alerting human lifesavers to the problem.
According to The Sunday Telegraph, the device has already prevented eight people from drowning. This includes a man who had a heart attack and two children who suffered asthma attacks.
It sounds like a really great tool, so hopefully it’s rolled out into more pools across the country soon!
