Dinosaurs Brought Back to Life at Australian Museum
They may have roamed the Earth hundreds of millions of years ago, but dinosaurs are still hot stuff. So it’s no surprise that The Australian Museum’s latest dinosaur exhibition is creating huge buzz even before it opens his doors.
It combines modern day technical wizardry with the large lizards old world appeal to create something which will appeal to enthusiasts of all ages.
One of the exhibition’s major drawcards is a replica of the skeleton of a Jobaria tiguidensis. You may not have heard of this monster yet, but you definitely won’t forget him. The skeleton weighs 1.5 tonne and measures a whopping 22 metres!
There’s also all your favourite dinosaurs, including the Tyrannosaurus Rex and Stegosaurus. Theres are plenty of Aussie dinosaurs too, with a seven metre long Muttaburrasaurus skeleton, and a life-sized model of Queensland’s armored Minmi just some of the monsters on show.
Interactive exhibits, projected scenes and some cool lighting effect make this exhibition fun for littlies and big kids.
“We’ve got a computer-generated animation that tells the story of a dinosaur stampede that took place in Queensland about 100 million years ago on the banks of a lake,” the museum project manager, Trish McDonald, told The Sydney Morning Herald. “It’s quite spectacular: the projection is 11 metres long, five metres high on the wall.”
The Dinosaurs exhibition will be a permanent feature of The Australian Museum, but it’s still worth checking it out soon. Every person who visits before June 8 goes in the draw for a trip to one of the world’s largest dinosaur fossil sites, Alberta Canada!
