Dralion: Cirque Du Soleil’s Latest Sensation

by Lauren on July 30th, 2008

Double trapeze at DralionDralion is the latest production from the acclaimed Cirque du Soleil. It’s been seen by more than seven million people around the world, and it’s now in Sydney.

Dralion combines ancient Chinese circus traditions and the extravagance synonymous with the Cirque du Soleil name. The program’s name comes from the show’s two main symbols: the dragon, symbolic of the East, and the lion, representing the West. The show also pays tribute to the elements of air, water, fire, and earth.

If you’ve never seen a Cirque du Soleil production, you’re in for a treat. The television broadcasts do not do the grandeur of these productions justice. The acrobatics, the music, and the performance are like nothing you’ve ever witnessed.

Dralion is sure to delight members of the whole family. It plays in Sydney until the end of September before visiting Canberra, Brisbane, Perth, and Melbourne.

We went to this the other night– it was amazing. Got great seats the morning of the performance– though we were in the front row, and I would recommend sitting a little further back for a better perspective.

    Definitely a must see.

Great tip … I think we get used to thinking closer is better when we see shows, but with something so spectacular I can see how you’d get more from it with a little distance.
