Good Food, Good Wine, What’s Not to Love?
I’m counting down to one of my favourite Sydney events: the annual Good Food and Wine show. My husband and I
have visited every year for the last three years. We tend to attend one day, but this year we’ve had to extend it to two. There’s just so much on!
Here are the things I’m most looking forward to:
- The celebrity chefs. We have those prized tickets to Gordon Ramsey’s show, along with tickets to Matt Skinner and Tobie Puttock’s food and wine matching talk. We’re also hoping to snare some tickets on the day to see Tobie Puttock’s “Eately” lecture. Some girls like movie stars and musicians. I tend to go gaga for guys that can cook.
- The Gourmet Garden Cooking School. This is a new addition this year, and one I can’t wait for. My hubby and I have enrolled in the Light and Luscious class which will see us making steamed chicken nori rolls and pan seared citrus salmon. My mouth’s watering just thinking about it.
- Wine. I absolutely love wine. Red, white, still, sparkling, I really don’t care. I tend to drink a little too much every year, but with so many wineries on show, can you blame me?
- Food. There are a couple of eateries inside the show, but you seriously don’t need to buy food. Just hang around the food stalls and taste whatever looks good.
- Showbags. I can take or leave the showbags at the Royal Easter Show, but I buy up big at the Food and Wine Show. They’re just such good value, stocked with cookbooks and plenty of tasty treats.
- Kitchen gadgets. My husband I always come home with some brilliant inventions. Some become staples, and others we never use again, but it’s all great fun. Last year we scored some brilliant bag seals. I wonder what will take our fancy this time around?
- The Regional Producers Market. There’s nothing like food fresh from the farm. It’s a luxury us city folks don’t often get to experience, but the Food and Wine Show brings it to us. I’m looking forward to gorging myself on cheese.
