Kids Come Out and Play
There’s plenty of fun stuff for the kids at Redfern these school holidays. It’s all part of the Sydney Children’s Festival, a creative playground for little ones aged five to fifteen.
There are loads of performances, workshops, and activities, and best of all – most of them are free! Here are some of the fun things the kids can look forward to
- The festival has a petting zoo with a difference. The animals aren’t very furry, and they’re not all friendly. They’re dinosaurs! Ancient life-like prehistoric creatures will entertain and educate the little ones at this unique event.
- Jungle Fever presented by Aerialize will convince all kids that running away to join the circus isn’t such a bad idea! The show is inspired by characters from The Jungle Book and Tarzan, and features plenty of acrobatics, daring trapeze work, and of course, clowns. After the show kids can learn how to perform the tricks in the circus skills workshops.
- Australia’s leading authors Andy Griffiths, Deb Westerbury, and Richard Tulloch will entertain with their enthralling stories.
- Arts workshops will bring out your children’s creative side. With acting, dancing, and painting classes there’s something for everybody!
- The exhibitions allow kids to really explore art, from the giant megaphones to the elephant-themed playground! Little ones can also add their own artwork to the festival’s mural.
