Last Days for Archibald Prize

Image details: Archibald People’s Choice Award Announced served by picapp.com
This weekend is your last chance to see this year’s Archibald Prize exhibition. The show is renowned for generating controversy and debate. Which pieces are your favorites, and which don’t deserve to be there?
The Archibald Prize is one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious art awards, making the exhibition a must see event for all art lovers. Previous winners have included George Lambert, William Dobell, and Brett Whiteley. This year the finalists have created striking portraits of musician Neil Finn, film critic David Stratton, and the late Heath Ledger. But as this year’s winner Del Kathryn Barton proved, you don’t need celebrity subjects to create amazing art.
While you’re there make sure you catch the finalists for the Wynne Prize, celebrating the best Australian landscapes and figure sculpture, and the Sir John Sulman Prize, awarded to the best subject painting, genre painting, or mural project.
