Newtown’s Grub on Show at Feastability

by Lauren on September 13th, 2007

Feastability, Source: City of Sydney websiteVisiting a high school on a weekend probably sounds terrible to most people, especially if your teenage years were anything like mine. But hear me out. There’s actually a good reason to visit Newtown High on September 23. They’re hosting the yummiest festival around, Feastability.

Feastability will feature over 40 stalls showcasing the area’s eclectic international cuisine and finest drops. Newtown’s top restaurants, cafés, bakers, confectioners, and coffee makers will be there.

Of course you’ll need something to wash down all that food. Luckily local pubs, boutique brewers, and winemakers will be on hand.

But it’s not all about gluttony. The festival also serves up some great entertainment from the folk outfit Jesse Morris Band, Ethiopia’s Dereb Deselegn, and The Blues Preachers. Don’t miss the amazing and bizarre talents of Bunny Hoopstar. She’ll use 60 hula hoops in her retro performance. Feastability also features plenty of activities to keep the kids out of trouble.

Catch Feastability from 11 am to 5 pm at Newtown High on September 23.

Hi Lauren. Christine here, a fellow b5media blogger.

My family and I are going to be in Sydney for a short holiday and was thinking of going to Feastability. Is Newtown far from the CBD?

Hi Christine. It’s really not far at all - about 5 km out of the city. Trains and buses regularly go to Newtown, so you’ll have no problems getting there. I hope you enjoy your stay!
