Sydney’s kids will soon have a new place to play! The playground in Victoria Park, next to Sydney University in Camperdown, is getting a facelift!

It should definitely please the local community because they helped to plan it. The innovative playground was designed with the area’s heritage landscape in mind.

Currently the playground doesn’t have a lot of equipment, and there’s harsh gravel on the ground. The new facilities will include a new play area catering for children of all ages and abilities, from toddlers to teens.

There’ll be a special toddler area with a low barrier fence, so the littlest children can play safely. Their area have a shade structure to protect their delicate skin and a toddler’s tricycle loop. Older kids will love the climbing net, flying fox, and spinning dish. Disabled kids haven’t been forgotten either, with a special accessible swing planned. There’ll also be a bubbler and seats for mums and dads to relax.

“The city plans to renew the playground to complement other high quality community facilities within the park.  We are aiming to inspire the imagination of children of all abilities through interesting and stimulating equipment and surrounds,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP said.

The city council plans to start work on the playground’s redevelopment in mid-2009. It sounds like it’ll be brilliant once it’s finished!
