Marvellous Stay at the Marriott

Marvellous Stay at the Marriott

Last weekend my husband and I treated ourselves to an overnight stay at the Sydney Marriott Hotel. We had a birthday party to attend in the city, and he’d just received word that his application for permanent residency was approved, so we had twice the reason to celebrate.
The hotel is conveniently located near Hyde Park, which is perfect if you’re like me and don’t fancy the stress of driving into the city. We caught the train to Museum and enjoyed an easy five-minute walk to the hotel door.
The room was gorgeous, with a big king size bed and stunning views …read more

Well I always knew Sydney was the best city, but now it’s official. The New South Wales capital took home the title of the top city in the pacific region in the latest Conde Nast Traveler Survey. More than 32, 000 readers can’t be wrong, can they?
There’s definitely some joy at beating Melbourne to the top spot! We received the edge because of our superb accommodation options, restaurants, and ambience.
But we were pipped to the post in the hotels category, losing out to Hobart’s Henry Jones Art Hotel. But there are still plenty of fantastic places to stay here, including …read more

Tripr.tv Dishes the Dirt on Sydney Hotels

You’ve all heard me bitch and moan about Sydney accommodation that feels like it’s a little bit less than the star rating had me believe. So I’m quite excited to find a new website which looks to put a stop to that sort of thing. It’s called tripr.tv, and while it’s still in the growth stage it has the potential to make things a lot easier for travellers, no matter where they’re visiting.
First up you choose a country, then state, and finally the city you intend to visit. Key in Sydney and you’ll find information on some of the biggest …read more

Now the Metro Hotel Sydney Central has had a makeover it’s an even better destination for Sydney tourists.
To be fair, not all the rooms have been renovated yet so if you’re greeted by some dated décor you know why. However the big screen flat TV equipped with Foxtel in every room should sweeten the deal whether you get a revamped room or not.

The location couldn’t be better …read more

Affordable Accommodation at Sydney Olympic Park

Sydney Olympic Park is still one of the city’s hottest spots thanks to the major concerts of Acer Arena, rugby league matches every weekend, and heaps more.
But until recently you had to splash around some cash if you wanted to stay there. The Mercure and Ibis hotels are gorgeous, but let’s face it: they’re not in everyone’s price range.
Now there’s a more affordable alternative, with this week’s opening of a 156-room Formule 1. The accommodation is modest, but it is clean and comfortable. It’s also within walking distance of the park’s stadiums, athletic and aquatic centres, transport, and restaurants.
All rooms …read more

Rustic Charm of the Oaks Goldsborough Apartments

Rustic Charm of the Oaks Goldsborough Apartments

When spending two days at the Good Food and Wine Show, you don’t want to think about getting yourself home. It’s imperative that you find somewhere within shambling distance, so that when you’ve over-indulged in the wine tasting it doesn’t really matter. For us, that place was the Oaks Goldsborough Apartments, situated just behind the convention centre.
The location was ideal, although a little confusing until you get the hang of it. I knew we had to park in the Harbourside car park, but once we’d left our car we were a little lost. Consequently we walked around the block before …read more
