Big Deal

If you prefer your plays to feature gritty plots and black humour over fluffy music numbers, then Big Deal is for you. This raw production tells real Australian stories with equal measures of humour and darkness.

Big Deal tells the tales of six quirky characters living in Bondi. They come together through their mutual addictions and disconnection with society, and the results are mesmerising.

The play is brutally honest in its exploration of compelling themes including drugs, prostitution, and corruption. It knows life is not black and white, and reveals the shades of grey present in topics like drug legalisation and substance abuse. With such dark subject matter it could be difficult to watch, but the humour helps to balance the piece while giving it an authentic Aussie feel.

Big Deal is co-directed by playwright Ian Leete and local actor John Samaha. It has a stellar cast including Ghostrider’s Laurence Breuls and ex-Neighbours beauty Simone Oliver.

The play will run for two weeks at the Bondi Pavilion, a setting which is sure to add an air of authenticity to the piece.
