The NRL and AFL trophies both headed south, so we can’t even bask in the afterglow of victory. It’s enough to make a sports fan seriously depressed. But I’ve got two pieces of news that just might cheer you up. Firstly, we’ve still got a great national sports team winning games in our own backyard.

We’ve been a bit slow to catch on to soccer, but with Sydney FC doing great things in the A League there’s no better time to cheer on your local team. Sydney FC call the Sydney Football Stadium home, and they’ve got a big game coming up against Melbourne Victory on Saturday night. That’s right: the very city that stole our NRL title. It makes it interesting, doesn’t it? We’re level with the Southerners on points, although they’re ahead in the for and against stats, so the team could really use your support!

I promised you two pieces of news, so here goes. B5media has just launched a new sports channel, with 24 blogs covering all kinds of sports. With news on golf, boxing and wrestling, baseball, tennis and more.

As if that wasn’t enough reason to smile, b5media is also giving away some awesome sports prize packs to celebrate the launch. To get your hands on one you can answer some easy trivia questions (all the answers can be found on the channel’s blogs!) or blog about the channel. Make sure you visit this post for more information about this great competition, including the terms and conditions. The comp ends on October 12, so make sure you get your entries in before then. Good luck!

Post from: The Sydney Traveler
