Revheads of all shapes and sizes will come together for the annual Australian International Motor Show.
This year’s proceedings will have a decidedly green feel, with many popular manufacturers unveiling their latest eco-friendly lines. Honda and Lexus will unveil the Prius’ latest competitors, the Camry Hybrid and LF-Xh hybrid SUV. Volkswagon have also joined the green army with their BlueMotion range. The Polo BlueMotion and Passat BlueMotion look to protect the Earth without compromising driver enjoyment. There’s a whole host of new small cars designed to limit environmental damage, and appeal to fuel price-conscious car fans.

Chalk Art at Darling Harbour

Chalk Art at Darling Harbour

One of my favourite local art exhibitions is the Chalk Urban Art Festival. There’s just something so beautiful about seeing such amazing works that you know will never last once the elements attack.
This Thursday 35 artists armed with only coloured chalk will transform a two by three metre space of cement into an incredible artwork. Over the next four days they’ll work on their pieces and chat to the passersby.
That interactive element makes the Chalk Urban Art Festival so much more accessible than some of those snooty gallery shows. Where else can you see art come alive in front of …read more

IMAX: The Real Big Screen

Think you’ve seen movies on the big screen? Unless you’ve been to the IMAX, you’ve seen nothing.
Sydney’s IMAX cinema screen is the world’s largest, standing a massive eight stories high. It booms out an impressive 15,000 watts of digital surround sound, making you feel like you’re in the thick of the action.
IMAX shows a variety of 2D and 3D films, so there’s something to suit all ages and interests. Currently you can choose from the blockbuster The Dark Knight or a range of educational docos like Bugs 3D, The Human Body, or Cosmic Voyage.
Sydney’s IMAX is conveniently located in Darling …read more

Messing Around With Boats

Messing Around With Boats

The Sydney International Boat Show is jetting into Sydney Harbour this Thursday. Whether you’re in the market for a new vessel, or you just want to dream about it, this fun festival has plenty to satisfy.
This year there are six halls, spanning more than 28, 000 square metres, and more than 270 exhibitors in the Darling Harbour Convention Centre alone. There’ll be more than 800 boats inside, but that’s not all.
Step outside and the action continues at the marina outside. This is where the really good stuff is, the “super yachts” priced up to $10 million each. I could never …read more

Rustic Charm of the Oaks Goldsborough Apartments

Rustic Charm of the Oaks Goldsborough Apartments

When spending two days at the Good Food and Wine Show, you don’t want to think about getting yourself home. It’s imperative that you find somewhere within shambling distance, so that when you’ve over-indulged in the wine tasting it doesn’t really matter. For us, that place was the Oaks Goldsborough Apartments, situated just behind the convention centre.
The location was ideal, although a little confusing until you get the hang of it. I knew we had to park in the Harbourside car park, but once we’d left our car we were a little lost. Consequently we walked around the block before …read more

Cool Food at Ice Cube

Cool Food at Ice Cube

What do you do after a long day at the Good Food and Wine Show? Why, you go and eat!
Yes, my husband I probably didn’t need dinner on Saturday night, but the lure of Darling Harbour’s buzzing eateries proved to strong to resist. We opted for the Ice Cube Seafood Grill, deciding it was the best spot for something light. It turns out much of Sydney had the same idea, so we waited at the bar for a vacant table.
The bar really needs more seats for those busy nights. After a day on our feet, it was a little frustrating …read more

My legs are aching when I walk, and I’m utterly exhausted, but that’s what I get for spending the last two days in Sydney at the Good Food and Wine Show.
My husband and I are food and wine nuts. We arrive as the show starts, and don’t leave until it ends for the day. But if you hope to see everything, that’s the only way to do it. As it stands we had to skip a lot of wineries and we missed some of the food stands too. But …read more

Sydney Photo Friday: Darling Harbour Fountain

Sydney Photo Friday: Darling Harbour Fountain

Tomorrow I’m off to the Good Food and Wine Show at the Sydney Convention Centre. I’d be super excited, yet somehow I’ve found myself on the receiving end of a nasty stomach bug. I’m drinking plenty of fluids in the hope I can flush it out of my system.
Anyway, in honour of my trip I figured I’d post a photo of my favorite Darling Harbour landmark, the fountain outside the Convention Centre. I may be pushing 30, but I still love to get my shoes wet walking down this thing to stand in the middle. It’s just incredibly cool.
