Last weekend my husband and I treated ourselves to an overnight stay at the Sydney Marriott Hotel. We had a birthday party to attend in the city, and he’d just received word that his application for permanent residency was approved, so we had twice the reason to celebrate.
The hotel is conveniently located near Hyde Park, which is perfect if you’re like me and don’t fancy the stress of driving into the city. We caught the train to Museum and enjoyed an easy five-minute walk to the hotel door.

The Sebel Pier One is the latest Sydney hotel to open its doors to dogs!
Rooms at the luxury hotel start at $225, and you can add an extra $60 for the privilege of staying with your pooch. Eleven rooms have been set aside for dogs: three heritage, six queen-sized waterside, and two king-sized waterside.
The hotel has a dog minding service for those times you want to see the city or have dinner without Rover’s company.

Now the Metro Hotel Sydney Central has had a makeover it’s an even better destination for Sydney tourists.
To be fair, not all the rooms have been renovated yet so if you’re greeted by some dated décor you know why. However the big screen flat TV equipped with Foxtel in every room should sweeten the deal whether you get a revamped room or not.

When spending two days at the Good Food and Wine Show, you don’t want to think about getting yourself home. It’s imperative that you find somewhere within shambling distance, so that when you’ve over-indulged in the wine tasting it doesn’t really matter. For us, that place was the Oaks Goldsborough Apartments, situated just behind the convention centre.
