Double Demerit Points From Midnight Tonight

Remember to slow down and buckle up if you’re traveling around New South Wales roads over the holiday period. Double demerits for all speeding and seatbelt offences will be in force from midnight tonight.
The dual penalties apply until January 4 in an effort to curb the state’s Christmas road toll. Road deaths have dropped 28% since the initiative was introduced in 1997, so it looks like it’s working!

The site allows travellers to book accommodation at 170 camping grounds and caravan parks around New South Wales, including our capital.
“It’s a great boon for holidaymakers,” state tourism minister Matt Brown told The Sunday Telegraph.

Violent Pubs Outed

Heading out for a night on the town can be a daunting prospect for tourists. A new report looks to make things easier though by telling travellers about the places they might like to avoid.
The police list names the 100 most violent pubs and clubs in the state. Sadly, Sydney pubs claim the top two spots. The Mean Fiddler Hotel at Rouse Hill had 51 assaults last year, while The Coogee Bay Hotel had 41.
