Sydney Photo Friday: Rethinking Seagulls

Sydney Photo Friday: Rethinking Seagulls

Seagulls are the scourge of the Sydney summer, right up there with blowflies and jellyfish. They’re noisy and demanding, especially if you’re eating hot chips. But then I see a photo like this one, and I think maybe seagulls aren’t that bad after all. Sure, when they’re photographed you can’t hear them squawking. But doesn’t this bird look so serene? Maybe I’ll give seagulls a chance this year after all.

Sydney Photo Friday: Anzac Bridge

Sydney Photo Friday: Anzac Bridge

Millions of us drive across Anzac Bridge every day, but we rarely get to see it from this amazing angle. More than just the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s poor cousin, Anzac Bridge is a truly striking marvel of modern architecture. The lights against the dappled night sky just add to the appeal of this gorgeous photo.

Sydney Photo Friday: Surfer Dazzles at Dee Why

I seem to have a pattern of posting beach pictures whenever the mercury rises. Looking longingly at images of surfers cutting through the waves doesn’t necessarily make me any cooler, but I can’t seem to help myself. This beauty was taken at Dee Why.

Sydney Photo Friday: Amazing City Skyline Shot

Sydney Photo Friday: Amazing City Skyline Shot

What an amazing photo of the city this is. I just love that rich swirling sky, the vibrant colors of the buildings, and the shadows on the water. It really captures of the character of Sydney, don’t you think?

Sydney Photo Friday: Sydney Storm

Sydney Photo Friday: Sydney Storm

Is it just me, or does it feel like it’s been raining forever? Maybe it’s just that the weekend’s approaching, and that I have an outdoor concert to attend, but it feels like I’ve been staring at the sky and willing it to change for days. So this Sydney Photo Friday I decided to change my headspace and appreciate the beauty that storms can bring. Just look at this shot of the Sydney skyline all lit up with lightning. Isn’t that an amazing sight? Maybe that rain’s not so bad after all.

Sydney Photo Friday: Sydney Skyline

This beautiful photo of the Sydney skyline reminds me of a postcard. The way the colors of the sky subtly fade into one another, and the silhouetted buildings contrast with these lighter tones, is just amazing. Sydney is truly a beautiful city, isn’t it?

Sydney Photo Friday: Giraffe Enjoys Harbour Views

Sydney Photo Friday: Giraffe Enjoys Harbour Views

It seems humans aren’t the only ones enamoured by Sydney’s skyline. This giraffe at Taronga Zoo seems quite content taking this gorgeous vista in. I can’t say I blame him! This was just so cute that I couldn’t resist sharing it with you.

Sydney Photo Friday: Archibald Fountain

Sydney Photo Friday: Archibald Fountain

Archibald Fountain is one of my favourite city landmarks. It’s actually in one of my favourite parts of town, Hyde Park. It’s like a real oasis, a sanctuary of green in this bustling city. But back to the fountain. I love how much is happening here, with the cherubs and those adorable turtles. The composition of this photo is beautiful, with St Mary’s cathedral in the background.

I just love how moody this shot of the NSW State Library is. With the dramatic black and white finish and those rolling clouds, it just has such atmosphere. Not to mention the stunning architecture of this beautiful building. What a great shot!

Sydney Photo Friday: The Apple Store

Sydney Photo Friday: The Apple Store

Sydney’s Apple Store, which opened last month, offers more than just another shopping experience. It’s the second-largest Apple Store in the world, making it heaven for Mac enthusiasts. But it does lay claim to some firsts. It boasts the largest apple logo in the world, and uses the largest sheets of plate glass in the world. Each one is more than 15 m long. Now that’s impressive!
