Take a Bite out of Bankstown
I must admit when I think of Sydney foodie destinations, Bankstown doesn’t immediately spring to mind. But things are
changing, and this multicultural melting pot in Sydney’s southwest is keen to show off at the annual Bankstown Bites festival this weekend.
You can discover all the local flavors with one of five free Bankstown Discovery Food Tours. Explore treats from the Middle East on the Orange Tour, enjoy European delicacies (including wine!) on the Blue Tour, indulge your sweet tooth on the Pink Tour, taste fresh food and spices on the Green Tour, or have an Asian experience on the Red Tour. Book in advance, or try your luck on the day but remember that places are limited. Tours depart at 10 am, noon, and 2 pm.
Fast Ed from Better Homes and Gardens will be there cooking up a storm in the centre of Bankstown. You’ll be amazed at how quick this guy works, and soon realise it’s not just the magic of television!
Bankstown Bites is a fun day out for the whole family, with a trackless train, the Punch and Judy show, food art, and plenty of live music.
Add to that 150 eateries, delis, and fresh food stores and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a great day out!
