Tennis Aces Hit Sydney

by Lauren on January 3rd, 2008

Lleyton Hewitt, Source: Glenn Thomas @ WikipediaThe world’s top tennis players will battle it out in Sydney this weekend at the Medibank International.

This year’s competition features the event’s strongest women’s draw, with top seeds Justine Henin, Svetlana Kuznetsova, Jelena Jankovic, and Ana Ivanovic all set to compete.

Local hero Lleyton Hewitt will be playing to win his fifth Medibank International men’s title, but he’ll face stiff competition from Carlos Moya, Richard Gasquet, Tommy Robredo, and Tomas Berdych.

The Medibank International is Sydney’s biggest annual international sporting event, and the fourth oldest tennis competition in the world. And while tennis takes center stage, the week-long event is about much more than sport.

Pop diva Ricki-Lee will headline an impressive entertainment lineup, which also includes interactive games, street theatre, and fashion parades. Tennis fans can also get up close and personal with their favorite players at the daily autograph sessions.
