The e-tag for Sydney Tourists
The advent of the e-tag has made getting about Sydney a lot easier for locals, but a bit of a pain in the derriere for tourists. Visitors previously had the choice of laying down a hefty deposit for something they’d only use for a week or two, or having to take the long way to their destinations of choice. Sure you can get across the bridge without it, but don’t even think about taking the tunnel or most of the motorways!
But things are now a lot easier on travellers with the advent of the RTA short term tag. It offers all the convenience of the regular e-tag, but it’s a much cheaper option for short visits to Sydney. There’s no deposit to pay: it simply costs $5 a week plus your tolls. The minimum period for a short term tag is one week, but there’s no upper limit.
Planning to get out and see more of the Aussie countryside? No worries. The short term tag can be used on all toll roads through New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland.
To get your short term tag just visit an e-toll motor registry or phone 131 865.
