World Record Commemorates Sydney Harbour BridgeClimb Birthday

by Lauren on October 1st, 2008

Sydney Harbour Bridge's 'BridgeClimb' Celebrates 10th Anniversary

A world record has been broken to celebrate BridgeClimbs’s 10th anniversary.

One hundred and thirty-seven climbers scaled the Sydney Harbour Bridge today brandishing flags from all different nations of the world. The feat put them into the Guiness World Records book for the most flags flown on a bridge.

The 137 flags represented the countries and territories of origin of the 2.2 million tourists that have climbed the bridge since tours began in 1998.

“We are delighted to be celebrating BridgeClimb’s 10th Anniversary and extremely proud to be able to share this unforgettable experience with Australians and visitors from all over the world,” said BridgeClimb’s founder Paul Cave.

“BridgeClimb would like to acknowledge all of our climbers and stakeholders who have helped make BridgeClimb the Australian success story it is today.”

Happy Birthday BridgeClimb!
